25×25: A relaxed goals list

Like a lot of people, I love lists and goals. When I was about to turn 20, I wrote a 30×30 list for fun and self improvement. It sucks. I didn’t account for a sluggish economic recovery. Every time I look at it, I get frustrated about how broke Mr. W and I are*. So, since I’m about to be 23 1/2, I decided to write a 25×25 list to distract myself.

Here are my easier, cheaper, more fun 25×25 goals:

1) Increase my typing speed to 75 wpm

2) Try every recipe in Miette

3) Teach Tig to play fetch

4) Finish knitting the blanket I started 2 years ago

5) Taking an accounting class (This is a little expensive, but it’s more justifiable than the things on the 30×30 list)

6) Post on this blog for 30 consecutive days

7) Run 5 miles

8) Do 20 push-ups (I’m not sure how to start this since I can’t do any right now…)

9) Start an herb garden

10) Play in the snow

11) Make a financial vision board

12) Make a souffle

13) Bake bread from scratch

14) Throw a fancy dinner party

15) Go to a beginner line dancing night

16) Put together a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle

17) Carve a pumpkin

18) Send thank yous from my wedding that we should have sent a year ago

19) Learn to do something other than point and click with our camera

20) Buy a vase and fill it with flowers

21) Go horseback riding

22) Take a yoga class

23) Host a tea party with an actual teapot and finger sandwiches

24) Volunteer somewhere

25) Try sushi


*I did finally get a part time job at Macy’s for the holidays!

10 Fun Fall Things

In the interest of full disclosure, this post was inspired by this Yes and Yes post. I seriously love that blog.

It’s starting to feel a little bit like fall here in Reno, although the afternoons are still TOO HOT. Fall is my favorite season (and the season my wardrobe is most designed for), so I’m a little bit pissed by the late onset. Alas, the sun gives no fucks about how I feel.

Here we have, in list form, 10 fun fall things to do:

1) Drink a pumpkin spice latte.

I know it’s cheesy, but they are JUST SO GOOD. One morning while I was in the shower, Mr. W went out and got me one. I think I’ll keep him.


2) Knit something.

I need to do this. I really enjoy knitting, and I have a blanket that I’ve been occasionally working on for about 2 years.


3) Make something homemade that you’ve never made before.

I’m thinking about trying to bake a loaf of bread from scratch. You could try pumpkin pie, spaghetti sauce, or cheese. I’m sure there are non-food options too, but I haven’t had enough coffee to think of any.


4) Carve a pumpkin.

I haven’t carved a pumpkin in years, and I am determined to change that. I even have a balcony where I can display it now!


5) Play a game or do a puzzle.

Summer is all about outdoor activities. Fall is a great time to enjoy something inside like an old game or a jigsaw puzzle.


6) Go for a hike.

On the flip side of 5, we are running out of nice days, so enjoy the fantastic fall weather too.


7) Start shopping for Xmas gifts.

It builds anticipation, and helps prevent a mid-December freak out.


8) Take some pictures.

Pumpkins are very good at holding a pose.


9) Go to a football game and drink hot chocolate.

Actually watching the game is not required. I personally enjoy it, but I know not everyone feels that way.


10) Try a seasonal beer.

Then let me know how it was!
